SwedNess is organized as a national collaboration between Swedish universities. Its governance structure includes a board, an operational secretariat, local node coordinators, and a reference group representing the research community.
The board is responsible for the strategic development of SwedNess, including decisions on activities and budget.
Chairman: Prof. Lars Börjesson (Chalmers University of Technology), international representatives: Prof. Catherine Pappas (TU Delft, The Netherlands) and Prof. Poul Nissen (Aarhus University, Denmark), national academic representative Prof. Marianne Sommarin, (Umeå Universitet) and an industry representative Dr. Marie Vennström (Alleima).
The secretariat manages the daily operations of the research school, including course organization, coordination with partner institutions, and communication with stakeholders such as universities, research infrastructures, and funding agencies.
Prof. Martin Sahlberg (Director), Assistant Prof. Martin Månsson (Director of Studies), Dr. Mikael Andersson (Project coordinator), Camilla Dann (Administrative Coordinator), Dr. Cristina Paun and Kajsa Saykali (Communicators), and Karin Westlund (Economist).
To ensure strong national anchoring, each participating university has a local coordinator (UU, KTH, CTH, SU, LiU, LU), while the reference group provides guidance and ensures that the activities reflect the needs of the Swedish research community.
